The formula was developed specifically for daily wear, combining mineral protection with a lightweight texture that fits easily into a morning skincare routine.

Urban Daily Defence was formulated with sensitive skin in mind. Alongside Zinc Oxide, the formula contains Ectoin and Hyaluronic Acid to support hydration and skin comfort during daily wear.

As with any new skincare product, patch testing before first use is recommended if your skin is particularly reactive.

If you are spending prolonged periods outdoors or participating in activities such as swimming or hiking, Urban Daily Defence SPF15 is not intended to replace a higher-SPF, water-resistant sunscreen.

The main difference is the type of UV filters used.

Mineral sunscreens use filters such as Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. Urban Daily Defence uses 15% Zinc Oxide, which provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB radiation.

Chemical sunscreens use organic UV filters, such as avobenzone, octocrylene or newer-generation filters, depending on the formulation and country.

Despite the common idea that mineral sunscreens simply “reflect” UV while chemical sunscreens “absorb” it, the science is more nuanced: Zinc Oxide protects predominantly by absorbing UV radiation, with some scattering and reflection also occurring.

Neither category is automatically better for everyone. We chose Zinc Oxide for Urban Daily Defence because it allowed us to create the mineral, broad-spectrum daily sunscreen we wanted for the 28N range.

We chose Zinc Oxide because it provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection while fitting our formulation approach for sensitive skin.

Unlike some organic UV filters that can be absorbed through the skin and detected systemically, Zinc Oxide primarily remains at the skin's surface. Current evidence reviewed by Australia's TGA indicates that systemic absorption of Zinc Oxide used in sunscreens is highly unlikely.
